Things to do in Shrewsbury this half term

Things to do in Shrewsbury this half term

It only feels like two minutes ago that my girls were off school for half term, and now they're off again this week! I'm looking forward to some lie ins and some family fun.   I put together a list of my top five activities that can be done while they are off school. We probably won't get chance to do all of them but I figured it's a handy list to have for any school holiday. We live in Shrewsbury, so obviously I have focused my attention there. Hopefully my list will at least serve as inspiration for those who...

How to wean a baby onto solid food

Kieron is weaning onto solid food at the minute and I have researched so much about weaning a baby over the last few months that I must be somewhat of an expert now. I looked into both baby-led weaning and traditional weaning and I was initially adamant that my baby was going to be baby-led weaned because it was the natural way and it seemed to naturally follow on from breastfeeding. I tried him with a few strips of food and I just could not relax. I think in the end the stress was too real and it wasn't fun...

The Best Homemade Bread in the World Recipe

I have been making this bread for a long time and it is so delicious. I usually do honey and oat but since Kieron is weaning now and loves bread, I have had to start substituting the honey for sugar. I actually prefer it with the honey but Kieron is only 7 months and babies under 12 months are not allowed honey, even cooked, due to the risk of botulism. I'll share both options in the recipe, just in case you're in the same position as me. I have used this recipe for years so I can't remember where...

Easter Craft Roundup

It's Easter Sunday tomorrow and that can only mean one thing...chocolate! Or so my kids and I'm sure countless other kids think anyway. I have the easter eggs and gifts lined up ready for my girls. I didn't get Kieron anything as he is only just starting to wean at the minute so even the baby ones are no good for him yet. I got the girls a chocolate egg each and a little toiletry set each. I usually make them an outfit each too but I have been run off my feet this year with the baby so...

Banana Pancakes Recipe

It's half term here in Shrewsbury this week, but with Storm Doris blowing a hoolie outside and Pancake Day looming, we decided to stay in the warm and try out a pancake recipe I've been thinking about for a while. This recipe is actually for egg free pancakes, it uses mashed banana instead of egg. If you are not a fan of banana then obviously they are not for you, but we love banana so they are brilliant for us! They can be turned into vegan pancakes too by substituting the milk for almond milk or gluten free pancakes by substituting...
